Disney Questions!

Friends are always asking me for my Disney tips and tricks. I guess the fact that my family has visited Disney World 14 times in 8 years makes people think we know a thing or two about Disney! :) So, rather than just let the person asking the question benefit from my wisdom, I thought I'd share the answers here in case anyone else has the same questions! Here are some questions I got today:

We will have four park days. So, I have a few questions... How do I know ahead of time which parks open early or have a special night time event so that we know where we want to go. I can't find that online.....
I always use the Park Hours calendar on WDWInfo.Com.  I like their format and it always seems to be up to date.  You can also get the park hours while you are in the parks with the My Disney Experience App.
With four park days, you can obviously hit every park.  Although, we tend to spend more time in Epcot and the Magic Kingdom than we do in Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, but for a first time visitor, you might as well hit them all!  But, if you want my opinion, Animal Kingdom is skippable on a first trip.  If you feel like you haven't seen everything in Magic Kingdom or Epcot and want to go back, then consider skipping AK.  It will always be there when you go back again someday (and you will want to go back!)
We don't want a 'princess lunch' or whatever, but we would like one or two 'sit down' meals. It may be too late to get reservations... We are going march 26. What do you suggest/ recommend?....
I LOVE Chef Mickey's for a character meal, but it might be tough to get in there now.  Although, you never know until you try!  Call 474-WDW-DINE and ask!  Try for lunch which is a less popular time of day.  Also, try Crystal Palace.  That is a fantastic buffet right in Magic Kingdom and I have had luck getting in there at the last minute.  You can also book dining reservations online HERE through Disney.  That site has has some issues in the past six months, but it seems to be working a little better these days.
Do we get fast pass there or do I have to get that ahead of time? It IS worth doing, right?....
You used to get fastpasses there (and you still can), but if you have Magic Bands with your reservation, you should be able to book through the new fastpass plus system online.   You should create a My Disney Experience account now HERE.  That's where you can book your fastpasses.  If you don't do them online, they have kiosks in the parks where you can also get FP+ at kiosks in the parks or through the My Disney Experience app.  We tested it out on our August trip and we really liked the app.  Get a FP for Illuminations if they offer it -- that was a cool location!
We paid for breakfast plan at the hotel. B/c it's not technically a Disney resort, we don't qualify for the meal plan. So we figured one or two nights we'd have a sit down dinner. I want to book them now. Do you prefer park eating or downtown Disney?.....
We like both.  Resort eating is great, too.  Ohana and Kona cafe at the Polynesian are awesome.  And T-REX cafe at Downtown Disney is one of our favorites, too.  HINT -- call T-REX directly to make a reservation instead of going through Disney.  They hold a bunch of the reservations back from Disney so when Disney says they are booked, that isn't always the case.
Do you ever go off-Disney? Anything worth doing down there instead of a park??
We don't bother.  Especially for a short trip.  We did go to Kennedy Space Center after our cruise in August, but that's just because it was right there!  It was awesome, but not worth trying to squeeze into a four day trip.  we haven't done Sea World or any of that other stuff.  There's always so much to do right at Disney and since the tickets get cheaper the more days you go, I can never see a reason to fork out $75 a person or something to go to Universal or Sea World for a day.  Maybe one year I'll try it but I haven't bothered yet!
Thanks for your help.. PS any books I can get to stop bothering you??.

Nah.  It isn't a bother!  I love answering questions!  But, if you want a book anyway, my favorites are the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and its corresponding website and app at Touringplans.com.  I also like the Passporter Guidebooks for Disney and the Disney Cruise.

Hope that helps!

Magic Meets Inspiration and some of my favorite links

I met a lot of great scrappers at the Scrapbooking meet at Magic Meets this weekend. It was fun to meet and share with lot of fellow Disney Scrappers. I hope I even talked a few of them into trying digital scrapping! So, if you're here because I inspired you to check out some digi stuff -- yippee! I thought I"d share some of my favorite digi Scrapping stores and forums for those who might want to start digital scrapping and don't know where to look!

If you want to find some great freebies (who doesn't?), start with Ikea Goddess's blog

If you want to buy some awesome Disney digital kits and snag some fantastic corresponding freebies, follow Britt-ish Designs blog and the ScrapMatters blog. There you will find INCREDIBLE freebies like this:

and kits for purchase like this recent release (I can't wait to use this one!)

All of these kits and freebies can be used in any digital scrapping software because they are in .jpg and .png format. I LOVE Britt's stuff and I use it all the time with my StoryBook Creator software.

Miss Kim has some Rockin' Kits!

Here's a designer that I discovered recently that has some really Rockin' Disney-ish kits! Her blog is Just Miss Kim and here are the pictures and links to her fantastic FREE Disney kits! (one kit is inspired by that OTHER Florida theme park, but I'll include it anyway!!)

again, again
Heart's Wish

Road Trip

and matching Quick Pages!

and then this one -- for that other theme park, but it is still cute!

I can't wait to play with some of these kits with my Disney pictures! If I ever get any layouts done, I'll be sure to post them for you to see! Maybe I should stop hunting for freebies and actually do a page once in a while!! Nah! :)

Digitreats P365 MICKEY template!

I love the stuff from Digitreats, even though it isn't Disney-specific (usually). But today, she rocked my world with this adorable character template! It is free right now, and then I'm guessing it will eventually be for sale in her store (that's how most of her stuff works). So, if you're quick about it, you can get this for free! Enjoy!

The template comes with .png's, so you can use it in SBC+ or any scrapbooking program out there!!

I've been a slacker! But I SOLD some pictures!

Sorry I have been such a slacker lately! I was so busy getting ready for my Disney trip and then recovering from my Disney trip that my poor little blog got a tad neglected! Well, I have a lot to share since my trip, but I'll start with some exciting news -- I SOLD some pictures! I have been pretty pleased with some of the photos I snapped on my last two Disney trips and between ScrapShare and the DIS, I have had a few requests from Scrapbookers for some of my pics, so I decided to share them on Smugmug and even try to make a few cents here and there selling the prints. Well, someone ordered a bunch of my pics for their scrapbook yesterday and it just thrills me!! If you'd like to see the pictures I have available to share, go HERE and check them out! I make a few cents per print if you order them directly form Smugmug, so if you like my work, go ahead and order some prints for your scrapbook, OK?

I took a lot of night shots, castle, fireworks, and sign photos on this past trip. I'm headed back to the World in a few weeks (yes, I'm insane), so I'm taking photo requests, too! I still have more to upload from this past trip, so keep checking back. I'll have even more pictures posted soon. Here is a little sample of what you'll find in my galleries:

Wishes:

Shows:

Signs:

and lots more:

So, feel free to check out my Smugmug site and order any prints you can use for your book! Or for framing, etc! If you use any of my pictures in a layout or for framing, I'd love to see them in use! Enjoy!!

We had already looked in two otehr places beofre we found them! Good thing we are persistent!! AJ had a blast seeing Lightning McQueen up close and personal and, since it must be my lucky day, Britt-ish Designs came out with the perfect digi-scrap kit for my photos this week!!

I found a TON of awesome coupons online and they reduced the price for my two books from $233.98 to $150.60!! I was going to order one book from CM and one from Shutterfly, but since CM wanted $175 for one book, I just couldn't do it. Anyway, I digress, click HERE to go to my book!!! Copies of my Disney scans for everyone!

I scanned a bunch of stuff from my last trip so that I could use it in my digital layouts. I had a request for a copy of the P&P party map and then I realized other people might be interested in these scans, too! So, here they are -- all the maps and brochures that I scanned from my January 2008 trip. I'm going back to the World in September, so I'll add those maps when I return! Hope this is helpful for someone!

You can go HERE to see the previews and download the files from my 4Shared account. Enjoy!

Finished another Pirate Layout!!

Whew! I think I'm finally finished doing my pages from the pirate & princess party back in January! I had so many pictures from the party, it was really hard to narrow them down! I also wanted to include some memorabilia from the night, so that's where this page came in. I scanned the map from the party and also my Annual Passholder Exclusive Pin from the event to use on this page. I'm really happy with how it came out! I used papers and elements from Britt-ish Designs Shiver Me Timbers, Pirate Princess, and Pirate add-on kits. I also used a tape element from Ellie Lash's About a Boy kit.

A Tower of Terror layout!

I couldn't help myself, I had to do this layout today! I loved that over lay so much, so I came up with this:

Made with a Disney ride photo, Dolly's Dreamings TOT overlay (freebie on her blog today, also linked on my blog), Britt Shiver Me Timbers frame and staples, Artistic Grunge background paper (not sure of designer's name), black cloud paper from DIS challenge by sleepingbean, arrow from A Work in Progress Kits, Date Stamp by Britt.

Look at this cool freebie!

From Dolly's Dreamings, an awesome Tower of Terror Overlay! I have plans for this already. Maybe I'll even go do a quick layout right now! Check this out! Click on the pic to do to her site to download. It is a freebie!

Here is a princess kit I found today, too. This one isn't free, but it looks adorable!!

So much going on today!

What with the Olympics starting (how 'bout those opening ceremonies!) and ScrapMatters re-launching their site (yes, just as exciting as the olympics for some of us!!), there is just so much going on today! I think I plan to stay in my jammies all day surfing the web and watching hours of Olympic coverage! Sounds like fun to me!! I might not make it all day, but I'll sure try!

Anyway, the real reason that I'm posting is because there are some GREAT new Disney kits out there today and I want to get them up here ASAP. This first one is my favorite. I can't WAIT to dig out my Buzz Lightyear pics and go to town with this kit. It is from Britt-ish Designs (of course). Click the pic to go to the store:

and for those Woody or cowboy/Frontierland pics:

Those two are also available for a short time the "You've got a friend in me" combo in the ScrapMatters Store. That's what I went with -- gotta have 'em both!!

In other Disney news, here's a cool freebie from Dolly's Dreamings. She makes such adorable elements that are really versatile! Here are the castle overlays she is giving away today!
While Browsing the SM store, I also found these two kits that would be fantastic for Animal Kingdom Layouts:
and this one:
That one even has some adorable quick pages to go with it:

I'm not ususally a big quick page kind of gal, but those are really adorable! I may have to get those, too! Geez, now I'm enabling myself! I'm in deep trouble! :) Enjoy the kits, maybe if I stop shopping for a few minutes today, I'll do a little scrapping! I'll be sure to post my layouts when they are done!
